Dr. Timo Kanzleiter joined the firm “Zwicker Schnappauf & Partner Patenanwälte PartG mbB” in 2018.
Dr. Kanzleiter is admitted before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, the European Union Intellectual Property Office, and the European Patent Office.
His area of practice is in the drafting and prosecution of German, European, and international patent applications in the fields of biochemistry, cell- and molecular biology, genetics and immunology. Furthermore, he is involved in opposition, infringement, and nullity proceedings of German and European patents.
Dr. Kanzleiter studied biology at Goethe University Frankfurt and Philipps-University Marburg and conducted research towards a Ph.D. at the lab of Prof. Dr. Martin Klingenspor. Afterwards he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney, Australia, in the department of the scientist responsible for the discovery of the insulin-sensitive glucose transporter, Prof. David James. There his research focussed on the molecular mechanism of insulin resistance and type-2-diabetes. Upon returning to Germany Dr. Kanzleiter worked as a principal investigator at the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) in Potsdam. There he conducted research on the genetic and epigenetic causes of insulin resistance and type-2-diabetes.
Dr. Kanzleiter received fellowships of the DFG as postgraduate student and as a postdoctoral fellow as well as a fellowship of the Diabetes Australia Research Trust.
