Brief description

Dr. Eugen Herrmann has over 15 years of legal experience in the intellectual property field und joined the firm of Zwicker Schnappauf & Partner PartG mbB in 2019.

Eugen is admitted before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, the European Union Intellectual Property Office, and the European Patent Office.

Eugen worked more than 13 years as in-house patent counsel for a leading optics-company and a leading automotive supplier. The work comprised the prosecution of national and international patent applications and opposition proceedings. One focus of Eugen’s work were Freedom-to-Operate-Analysis. Eugen was in-house lead counsel at infringement law suits in Germany, USA and Japan and nullity law suits in Germany. Eugen has also experience in infringement and nullity actions in the Netherlands. Further Eugen has experience in the areas of employee invention law and license contracts.

As a Patent Attorney’s Candidate Eugen successfully completed the studies General Law for Patent Attorneys at the Distance-Learning University of Hagen and undertook periods of training at the German Patent and Trademark Office, Munich (Patent Division and Trademark Division) and at the German Federal Patent Court, Munich (Technical Board of Appeal and Board of Appeal for Trademarks).

Eugen studied technical physics at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and physics at The Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom. As a Ph.D. student Eugen worked in the field of semiconductor quantum-dot-lasers at the Condensed Matter and Photonics group of Prof. Blood and Prof. Smowton at Cardiff University, United Kingdom.

Eugen is a member of the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP), the German-Japanese Association of Jurists (DJJV) and the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG).
